Pierre BONCOMPAIN was born in 1938 at Valence, Drome, France.

Valence grade school and Avignon junior high school,

1959 Admission to the National Decorative Arts Institute (first in his year).
1963 Admission to the National Institute of Fine Arts in Paris. Collioure Prize.
1970 Among the nominated for the Charles Paquement Prize, Friends Museum of Modern Art. Critic's special award.
1972 Resident at the Foundation of the Lourmarin Castle (Provence).
1977 On a cultural assignement in India with the writers Robert Sabatier and Michel Tournier and the painter Francois Bret, executive for the Marseille's school of Fine Arts.

Since 1961 a series of exhibitions took place. In addition of the permanent presence of his works on the picture rails of Artfrance in Paris which presents also a large personal show every three years, a lot of events are organized in France and abroad. In 1975-78-79 at the David Findlay Gallery in New-York (USA), 1982-86 at Bellefontaine Gallery in Lausanne (Switzerland), 1985 Artfrance-Danis Stinson Gallery at Palm Springs (USA), 1988-98-01 itinerant exhibition in Japan organized by the Kajikawa Gallery of Kyoto (Japan), 1995-96-99 Bruton Street Gallery at London (Great Britain), 1996-2000 Hammer Gallery at New-York (USA).

As well as several important retrospectives in Museums and Foundations :

1980 British Petroleum Foundation in Anvers (Belgium), 1988 Moraito Museum (Japan), 1990 Chenonceau Castel (France), 1993 Museum of Valence (France), 1997-2000 Singer Foundation at Laren (Nederland),1998 Museum of Fine Arts Carnoles Palace at Menton (France), 1998 Navio Museum at Osaka (Japan), 2000 Johnson and Johnson Foundation New-Jersey (USA) and realization of a large wall painting, 2002 Shanghai Art Museum in Shanghai (China).

His works are also presented in some international Art Fairs: 1996 Europ'Art at Genova (Switzerland), 1997 Hong-Kong Art Fair, in 1997 and 1999 the stand Artfrance at the London International Art Fair was entirely dedicated to his paintings.
